Aquatic Park crowns the bay at the northern edge of Russian Hill, just below Ghirardelli Square. The beach is always a quiet sanctuary for locals like me, swimmers, kids and of course out of town visitors.
These children were so intent and idustrious at whatever it was they were creating! They reminded me of my brothers and friends and I when, as kids, we went to the beach and built sandcastles. Total energy and creativity!
In case you’re wondering, the ship anchored in the harbor is the Balclutha, an 1886 trading ship that was built in Glasgow, Scotland. The Balclutha, (Baile Chluaidh in Gaelic) has been an historic museum ship since 1954. It’s a fun place to go and explore around while getting a little history.
